Tuck a bench between planters for built-in shade. If you could use more shade in your patio consider installing a bench nestled between a pair of big planters filled with trees. Check with your local garden center to choose a variety that does well in a pot and works with your climate.
In the foyer. Even in a large home the foyer or entry tends to be a relatively small area but so often we need a quick seat to slip off a boot wait for a slowpoke loved one or set down a package. A bench with a slim profile can be easily tucked against a wall leaving room to slip footwear below and hang jackets or leashes above so no more space is eaten up than necessary. Make sure to use a hardy material such as a rugged leather or microsuede so the occasional wet umbrella won’t spoil the look.
